| Purpose |
The purpose of the WSSGL is to promote friendly inter club and social relations among women golfers. |
| Organization |
The WSSGL is a voluntary organization founded in 1926. The current membership consists of eight clubs: Cohasset, Duxbury, Halifax, Hatherly, Plymouth, Scituate, and Wollaston. |
| Membership |
The association's member clubs pay annual dues to belong to the WSSGL. Any individual member of those club's women's organization is also a member of the WSSGL. No individual dues are assessed for membership. Each member club is required to host one tournament. |
| Cancellation Policy |
The WSSGL president, the host club's chairperson, the host club pro and greens keeper are solely responsible for canceling a tournament. Players can call the pro shop the morning of the tournament for a decision. If the tournament is played, no refunds will be given for a player cancellation. After the start of play, cancellation is determined by the head pro and/or the head greens keeper of the host club. In the event of a cancellation every effort will be made to reschedule, if this proves impossible, refunds will be sent out for cart fee & prizes. ALL SCHEDULED LUNCHES WILL BE HELD RAIN OR SHINE AND ARE NOT REFUNDABLE. |
| Cellular Phone Policy |
On the golf Course the use of cell phones, electronic, and paging devices is prohibited during team and tournament play. BREACH OF THIS POLICY IS SUBJECT TO DISQUALIFICATION FROM THE EVENT. Cell phones can only to be used for emergencies, such as sickness or injury on the course.

| Dress Code |
Players are expected to wear appropriate golf attire at all times. TEE SHIRTS, TANK TOPS, DENIM, GYM ATTIRE, BIKE SHORTS AND SHORT SHORTS ARE PROHIBITED. Some member clubs may have an even stricter dress code which must be adhered to. When in doubt, choose another outfit. |
| Waiting List |
Players requesting waiting list status are expected to be prepared to play if called. |
| Handicaps |
With the exception of the opening field day bramble, all tournament players are required to have A USGA. Handicap. The maximum handicap index allowance is 40.0 for tournament play and 30.4 for team play. Players with higher handicaps may enter tournaments and play on teams, BUT their handicaps will be subject to these allowances. All scores for team play, The Boros and the Two Ball Championship shall be posted for handicap purposes. |
| Pace of Play |
Players shall keep in mind that they should at ALL TIME "keep directly behind the group in front of them, not directly in front of the group behind them". Slow play will not be tolerated. |
| Personal Conduct |
Players are to conduct themselves in an appropriate manner at all times. Players are to display good sportsmanship and play in their assigned foursomes and tee assignments. Players shall replace all divots and fix ball marks on greens and show courtesy to all club employees. The USGA rules of golf are in effect at all times. |
| Prizes |
Tournament prizes shall be WSSGL chits good for any member club's pro shop and shall expire on November 1 of the current year. Payment of ties will be pre-determined by the prize committee with the exception of permanent trophies (Boros, 4-Ball) which shall be sudden death playoffs. The number of prizes available will be determined by the size and scope of the field. Players are eligible for only one prize per tournament. Please keep in mind that the prize committee is made up of volunteers that often, due to the matching of many scorecards, take time so your patience and courtesy is appreciated. |
| Withdrawals |
In the event of a withdrawal the player must notify the tournament chairperson immediately. If the withdrawal is made less than four days prior to the tournament date or after the final count has been given to a club, no refund shall be due to the player. Refunds will be given to withdrawn players who find substitutes. IN REGARDS TO THE FOUR BALL TOURNAMENT: IN THE EVENT THAT ONE OF THE PLAYERS HAS TO DEFAULT IN THE FOUR BALL TOURNAMENT, THE REMAINING PLAYER MAY SUBSTITUTE WITH ANOTHER PARTNER PROVIDING THE NEW PARTNER HAS AN INDEX WITHIN THE ORIGINAL FLIGHT RANGE. IF THE SUBSTITUTE IS NOT AVAILABLE ON EITHER DAY THE PLAYER MUST PLAY THAT ROUND ALONE. EACH PLAYER MAY HAVE ONLY ONE PARTNER FOR THE TOURNAMENT. |
| Score Cards |
Score cards are to be exchanged for the Mixed Scotch, the 4-Ball Championship, and the Closing Field Day. Upon completion of play, score cards are to be signed, dated and attested before turning in to the prize committee. In the event of a partner event, the better ball score used must be recorded next to the appropriate player. Incomplete scorecards will be subject to disqualification by the tournament committee. |
| Entries |
Tournaments are open to all players of member clubs. Players must use the entry forms for tournament play which can be found in the entries section of this web site or at the bottom of each tournament page in the pink book They must be received with the required fee no earlier than the opening date no later than the closing date stated on the tournament form. Phone entries will only be accepted space permitting. Pairings are computer generated by like handicap or first day scores (Two-Ball). The committee will attempt to honor all requests for pairings in Closing Field Day and Mixed Scotch. |
| Carts |
Carts are MANDITORY for all tournament and team play NO EXCEPTIONS. |
| GPS Devices |
GPS devices are allowed during a stipulated round, for Distance Only in league tournament and team play. However if a players used a device that is designed to gauge or measures other conditions that might affect her play (e.g., gradient, wind-speed, temperature, etc.) the player is in breach of USGA Rule 14-3 for which the penalty is disqualification regardless of whether any such additional functions are actually used. |
